What this covers
- ECU remapping
- Performance exhausts
- Intake upgrades
- Suspension upgrades and lowering
- Health check before any upgrade
- RTA test advice before work starts
Signs you need Performance Upgrades and Remapping
- Not enough pull when overtaking on the highway
- Throttle feels lazy even though the car runs well
- Want a deeper exhaust sound without a highway drone
- Car leans and floats through fast corners
- Like the lowered look but worried about speed bumps
- Taking the car on track and want it set up
Performance Upgrades and Remapping jobs we do
ECU remapping
A remap changes the engine software to raise the boost on turbocharged engines and adjust the fuel and ignition timing, which gives more power and a quicker throttle response. We diagnose the car before any remap, because the extra load soon finds weak coils, a slipping clutch or a tired gearbox.
Exhausts and intakes
We fit cat-back exhausts, which keep the catalytic converters in place, and pick silencers that give the sound you want without a drone at highway speed. On its own an intake changes the sound more than the power on most cars, so it works best together with a remap.
Suspension upgrades
Lowering springs, coilovers and stiffer anti-roll bars cut body roll and sharpen the steering, but a car set too low scrapes on speed bumps and car park ramps. We set the ride height and the wheel alignment around the roads you drive every day.
Planning the upgrade
We start by asking how you use the car, such as daily traffic, long highway runs or the track at weekends, and plan the parts around that. A car that sits in Sheikh Zayed Road traffic every day needs a different setup from one that is driven hard on track.
Performance Upgrades and Remapping questions
Is remapping safe for my engine?
On a healthy engine, a sensible remap that stays within what the engine, gearbox and cooling can take is usually fine. Problems come from aggressive maps, or from remapping a car that already has a fault, so we diagnose the car before we quote. Summer heat matters too, because hot intake air costs power and leaves less margin on a map set close to the limit.
How much more power will a remap give?
It depends on the engine. Turbocharged petrol and diesel engines gain the most, because the remap can raise the boost, while an engine without a turbo usually gains little. We tell you what to expect for your engine before any work starts.
Will performance upgrades affect the RTA test?
Some can, mainly changes to the exhaust, because the test checks emissions and a car without working catalytic converters fails it. We tell you which changes could affect the test before any work starts. Tell your insurer about any modification too, since an undeclared change can complicate a claim.
Do you remove catalytic converters?
No. The car needs working catalytic converters to pass the emissions part of the RTA test. If a converter is blocked and the car has lost power, we find out why and replace it with a genuine or OEM part.
How much do performance upgrades cost?
It depends on the car, the parts and how far you want to go, and a remap on its own costs far less than a remap with an exhaust and suspension. Parts prices also vary widely between brands. We send the quote on WhatsApp with parts and labour listed separately, and you can pay by cash, card, Tabby or Tamara.
Do you collect the car?
Yes, free, anywhere in Dubai during working hours. We collect the car from your home or office, from Dubai Marina and JLT to Downtown, Business Bay, Mirdif and Dubai Silicon Oasis.
